フラービルに似た姿が特徴で一階に香港上海銀行が入居しています。

Alwyn Court Apartments,

1909 Hade & Short  Restration, 1985,Beyer Blinder Belle; murals by Richard Haas.

A French Renaissance exterior,every square foot of which is literally encrusted with terra-cotta

decorations:crowns and dragons everywhere. Within the courtyard is a painted architectural facade by Rich and Haas.Fantastic!    (by AIA GUIDE page -277 S-6a)

一階に　ペトロシアン・レストラン（フレンチ）が在ります。

全身、テラコッタの装飾で覆われたインパクトの有るビルです。

１９６６年にニューヨーク　ランドマーク指定を受けています。

次回は、又５番街に戻りますのでお楽しみに・・・！

Originally International Magazine Building / 1928 Joseph Urban and George B Posy & Sons.

Shades of the Austrian Secessin movement, this sculptured extravaganza was commissioned
by the William Randolph Hearst publishing empire. It was a base for a skyscraper aborted
due to the Depression. The foundations are still there, waiting...

ランドマークとしては有りです。

アールデコの建築ですが、彫刻は吉野美奈子さんの仕事です。

次は少し跳んで

A richly decorated Beaux Arts nass that gets better toward the top.

Second only to the Plaza in number of prominent guests,the hotel is especially popular 

with foreign diplomats. The King Cole Restaurant is designed around a

Maxfield Parrish mural that once graced Times Square's old Knickerbocker Hotel

ホテルの中にある　King Cole Bar Lounge　でブラッディーマリーが

創られたのは有名です。また、アスター４世は

１９１２年　タイタニック号の遭難で他界されたそうです。

大きなビルは窓が多いので大変です。もっとアッサリ目に描きたいのですが

ディティールが気になってしまってついつい描き込んでしまいます。

ミッドタウンのビルの絵は続きます・・・。

A4サイズに描いているので何かと時間が掛かります。

一杯飲んだり、タバコを吸ったりとかね。

違う意匠のビルですが、手前が３階建て、真ん中が４階建て、

最後が５階建てです。

スゴクない！？ニューヨークでは普通なのかな〜？

もう少しミッドタウンの絵が続きます。

NEW YORK SKETCH 2013

Manhattan Building

３２年ぶりのマンハッタンに６月中旬に行ってきました。

変わっているものもあるし、変わらないものもある。

出来得る限り足で覗いて目についた建築をピックアップしてみました。

歩いた順にボチボチ行きましょう。

最初はこれ

ビル名／不明　Since ／不明

番地が判らなかったのでグーグルで探しましたが、

改装前のイメージが出ていたので、なかなか気がつきませんでした。

別にニューヨークの何処にでも在るビルなんですが、

何か　気持ちに引っ掛かるものがあったんでしょう。

白から煉瓦色ではこうもイメージが違うんですね。

プランナーの勝利かな？
