2020 Olympic in Japan Decision

２０２０年、オリンピックが東京で開かれる事に成りました。

人生２度目のオリンピックですが、７年後なので

自身で見られるかな〜

アッパーイーストの建築

今回、最初は

The Lotos Club
originally Margaret Vanderbitt Shepard residence
later Mr.& Mrs. William J. Schiefflin residence,
1900. Richard Howland Hunt

Rose-colored brick and limestone Beaux Arts Schlag.
Built for William H. Vanderbilt's eldest daughter, Margaret,the house
was presented to her daughter and son-in-low,William J. Schieffelin,
of the wholesale drug firm of Schieffelin & Company.
He was also president of Citizen's Union for 32 years.The Deutscher Verein took

典型的なアメリカンスタイルで、上は住居スペースの様です。

住んでいる人、とか、関係のある人にしか分からない

ありふれたビルディングです。が、気に入ったので描きます。

ニューヨークで気になっていた場所に寄ってみました。

これです。

ビル名・Since ？

3rd Ave. 83 St.

この建物は建築スケッチに嵌った切っ掛けになった建物です。

イメージがちょっと違いますが

これです。

二階建ての煉瓦色と思っていたのですが、色もサイズも、

トリミングしていた様です。

30年も経つとさすがに店名が変わっていました。念のため

グーグルで見てみると、２、３年前はこんな感じで、

これも店名が違う様ですので、商売も中々厳しい様です。

頑張って〜。

少しこの辺りをウロウロしま〜す。

西日本は大雨で大変！　でも、少し涼しくなったので、

ほったらかしの絵に取り掛かりました。

先の５番街の教会の絵から１ブロック戻って、セント・レジスの

向いに在る

当初は「ゴッサム　ホテル」Gotham Hotel と呼ばれていたそうですが、

1908年にわずかな肉屋の請求が払えずに倒産。

お次ぎは２ブロック下がった所に在る

カルティエのビルはクリスマス時期が一番派手らしいので、

ディスプレイ関係の人は要チェックです。

近くに在る「セント・パトリック教会」は工事中

工事の足場がハリネズミの様で面白いのですが・・・？

気が向いたら描くかも・・・！？

ニューヨークのミッドタウンはこの辺で止めて、上の方に上がります。

地味な絵が出てきますのでお楽しみに。

日本、特に関西は暑くて、毎日３７度越えの気温です。

絵なんか描いてられるか！・・の気分ですが、

イチローを祝福してこの一枚

フラービルに似た姿が特徴で一階に香港上海銀行が入居しています。

１９２０年頃の写真にも記録されています。

The Alwyn Court BLDG.

Arch. / Harole & Short  Since 1907-1909

7th Ave. West 58th St.

Alwyn Court Apartments,

1909 Hade & Short  Restration, 1985,Beyer Blinder Belle; murals by Richard Haas.

A French Renaissance exterior,every square foot of which is literally encrusted with terra-cotta

一階に　ペトロシアン・レストラン（フレンチ）が在ります。

全身、テラコッタの装飾で覆われたインパクトの有るビルです。

１９６６年にニューヨーク　ランドマーク指定を受けています。

次回は、又５番街に戻りますのでお楽しみに・・・！

Originally International Magazine Building / 1928 Joseph Urban and George B Posy & Sons.

Shades of the Austrian Secessin movement, this sculptured extravaganza was commissioned
by the William Randolph Hearst publishing empire. It was a base for a skyscraper aborted
due to the Depression. The foundations are still there, waiting...

ランドマークとしては有りです。

アールデコの建築ですが、彫刻は吉野美奈子さんの仕事です。

セント・レジス・ホテル

A richly decorated Beaux Arts nass that gets better toward the top.

Second only to the Plaza in number of prominent guests,the hotel is especially popular 

with foreign diplomats. The King Cole Restaurant is designed around a

Maxfield Parrish mural that once graced Times Square's old Knickerbocker Hotel

ホテルの中にある　King Cole Bar Lounge　でブラッディーマリーが

創られたのは有名です。また、アスター４世は

１９１２年　タイタニック号の遭難で他界されたそうです。

大きなビルは窓が多いので大変です。もっとアッサリ目に描きたいのですが

ディティールが気になってしまってついつい描き込んでしまいます。

ミッドタウンのビルの絵は続きます・・・。

A4サイズに描いているので何かと時間が掛かります。

一杯飲んだり、タバコを吸ったりとかね。

違う意匠のビルですが、手前が３階建て、真ん中が４階建て、

最後が５階建てです。

スゴクない！？ニューヨークでは普通なのかな〜？

もう少しミッドタウンの絵が続きます。
